Here comes the electrifying logic from Germany. BMW decided to build 500 electric powered Mini Coopers. As BMW is owner of Mini, this step is easy and smooth way for BMW to get through California’s mandate that all car manufactures have to make at least 7,500 zero emissions vehicles by 2014. With its lightweight construction, great handling, performance and funky look, eMini will be real hit. Not to mention that concept electric Mini from 2006. done 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. Problem could be price, but Mini drivers are already happy to pay a lot for quality small package.
Production is already started in UK and Germany and it’s expected that 490 cars will eb on sale in California and 10 used as show car. Great move from BMW.

Volkswagen decided to make bold move by producing lightweight 1-litre car that will have fuel consumption of only 282MPG. This small two seater will use diesel technology. Expected price would be 20-30,000 euros, what is not as cheap. Why not just buying a bike? Or using public transport? Also, if they already gone through whole process of creating this concept for production, why WV didn’t choose alternative fuel? It doesn’t look like it needs battery bigger than one on my laptop.

Tata Nano is seen as affordable small car available to large number of people in India or China. Then maybe on the west too. But as all other “green” technology is review – is Nano really green or another Earth-killing product?

Coming already in 2009, this new electric concept sound great. 100km on single charge of battery, 800 km with help of 2-cylinder petrol engine. 2+2 seats. 0-100km in 6 seconds (not bad at all!). Solar panels on the roof to recharge battery. Design is a bit questionable and a bit hard to like, but it is interesting and odd. Sure not as anything else on the road. Some bodykit and bit of colour would help to make it beauty more than ugly duck. Price can be problem, as some estimate it could be as high as 50,000 euros. Still Mindset, company behind this project, plan to lower price to 31K.
Still question is – would you pay 31,000 Euros for this oddie?

World is changing and to keep primacy in their field – companies change too. Morgan, manufacture of some of most beautiful cars on the World, gone green with new model – LIFE. This unbelievable good looking car run on 4 electric motors with zero emission and real sport car enjoyment. Plus 0-60 miles in 7 seconds, 250-mile range and where do I sign?
I think it’s time for banks to join and create loan for “green” cars. Hey! I should have some privilege for saving a earth and buying a car at the same time. OK, I don’t think Morgan will be in my budget range …
